Jason Politano is the Captain of the RV Weatherbird II and has been working in the marine industry since graduating high school. He spent 4 years building boats at Intrepid Power Boats and while working there, acquired his Captain’s License. He then spent over a decade working in the oil and gas industry running vessels out of Port Fourchon Louisiana for Edison Chouest Offshore. Jason acquired his 1600 ton Master License and 3^rd Mate Unlimited License both with Oceans endorsement and a DPO Unlimited during his time at ECO. Jason joined FIO in December 2021 as a Mate on the Weatherbird. Jason is committed to facilitating safety in a marine environment for research and education.
